Those who have not been understood enough in childhood, experienced trauma or raised in dysfunctional families, had to battle feelings of helplessness, powerless, making them retort to self- harm(listed below to feel some sense of control over their life.
● not eating / overeating
● anti / over social
● crying alone
● body abuse
● addictions
● punishing themselves by choosing to stay in suffering, etc
They often sound like-
I must have done some really bad karma in the past.
I’m not worthy of anything good.
My suffering is nothing compared to others, others have it worse.
It’s all my fault s/he behaved in a bad way to me. I must have pushed / triggered / instigated them
I deserve to suffer.
They often use self deprecating humour to hide their trauma. Self-guilt, blaming themselves for all the wrong is their default behavioural setting.
Often such people will attract unhealthy situations, friends or abusive , wounded , non- committing people or those who take them for/ granted.
To heal, it’s strongly recommended they acknowledge and heal their inner-child wounds.
