The function of the Vagus nerve is to “collect data” from all the organs and glands of the
body, including the Stomach, Heart, Thymus, Thyroid and bring this information to the Brain
for decoding.
In Yoga we see it as the Life force energy that travels up the spine, starting from the Root –
Muladhara Chakra, and passing through all the Chakras above, firing up the pineal gland,
allowing the practitioner to experience higher states of consciousness. Known as the
‘wandering nerve’ and some Yogis refer to it as the ‘Kundalini’ that extends from the colon to
the brain, wandering all through the body from bottom to top, upwards, shooting neurons.
