POST COITAL DYSPHORIA (PCD)
The melancholic, agitated, depressed, irritated, sad, crying feeling one gets after consensual sex / pleasure or orgasm with / without a partner is referred as Post Coital Dysphoria (PCD) in Clinical terms, also known as Post Sex Blues.
Postcoital dysphoria occurs more in women but recent studies show its a common
experience for men too.
Symptoms of PCD:
● Crying spells / tearfulness
● Depressed – anxiety – panic
● Feelings of emptiness
● Frustration – Irritated
● Feeling deeply unsatisfied
● Feeling lost – numb
● Guilt
Multiple factors lead to CD however some common ones are:
● Unhealed Past / present Abuse (emotional / physical, etc)
● Anxiety due to unhealed wounds of betrayal / childhood traumas etc
● PostNatal Depression
● Identity Crisis
● Insecurity – Trust issues with partner
Unresolved fears, traumas, wounds can create feelings of resentment, shame, guilt, hatred, etc towards self or partner. Its important to talk about these with your partner or to a Certified Psychologist. If your partner chooses to not understand/ acknowledge, then a good Psychologist can help you heal and navigate in life with or without support of your partner.
You can book personalised Relationship Counselling and Healing sessions with Ilashrei Anand or any other Certified expert to help you with this. We hope you take your well-being on priority.
